Physical Therapy
- A physical therapist will perform a comprehensive evaluation to address your concerns and develop an individualized exercise program tailored to your needs. This evaluation will also include metabolic testing to determine how your body uses its fuel at rest and when exercising. With this information, a more precise exercise program can be developed to target specific energy systems to meet your goals.
- Metabolic Testing includes:
- VO2max: A measure of the maximum amount of oxygen your body can utilize during exercise. This is an excellent marker of fitness and an important vital sign for overall health.
- Aerobic Threshold: The point at which your body starts to utilize carbohydrate a bit more than at rest. However, fat utilization is still dominant to produce energy.
- Anaerobic Threshold: The point at which your body switches to carbohydrates as your primary source of fuel.
- Resting Metabolic Rate: The amount of calories your body needs each day to survive at rest.
- Follow up visits
- Your physical therapist will guide you through your specific exercise program and make adjustments along the way. Throughout this time, your goals and progress will be reviewed.
Nutrition
- You will be connected with a registered dietician who will be able to provide an individualized nutrition plan to meet your goals. Once you have met your registered dietician, a plan will be established to help with progress and follow through.
Motivation
- A counselor will also be provided to aid in managing motivation and address other needs that may be individual to you. Once you have met with your counselor, they will help develop and implement a plan best suited for your needs.
