VO2max is considered a gold standard for cardiovascular health and fitness and is a good indicator of your body’s ability to utilize oxygen while during exercise. A high VO2max means that your body can continue to create energy at higher levels of intensity. This number can help guide training protocols and can help track improvements over time.
This test is performed on a treadmill or stationary bicycle with a gradually increasing intensity protocol until maximum effort is reached. At the end of the testing, the participant will be given a detailed handout as well as suggestions for training to meet their goals. Additionally, this test will give data to identify anaerobic threshold, aerobic threshold, and energy utilization at different intensities of exercise.
Everybody has different metabolic needs and will therefore burn calories at an individualized rate. There are many factors that contribute to this rate. RMR accounts for the number of calories that your body will burn at rest while maintaining the vital functions such as breathing, organ functions, and neurological functions. Knowing this number can help create an individualized plan to achieve your goal whether it be losing weight, gaining weight, or maintaining your current weight.
This test is performed seated in a relaxed position while breathing into a tube. Our equipment will measure and analyze the exhaled air to give an accurate calorie expenditure.
